Applications
THYRIPOL® is a static excitation system suitable for new plants as well as for retrofits in hydroelectric, steam and nuclear power plants and for rotary converters or synchronous condensers.
Application range
Excitation of the synchronous machine is controlled directly by a thyristor converter equipped with a voltage regulator, i.e. the converter supplies the excitation current directly to the rotor of the synchronous machine without any interposed rotary exciters being required. There are two standardized excitation systems:
Feeding from the generator terminals or station supply (medium voltage range)
Feeding as a compound excitation system by additionally using a stator current-dependent component from a series reactor.
