Oils & Refrigerants
Oils and refrigerants can provide equipment maximum protection for critical parts.
An effective oil program for a refrigeration system should consist of extending equipment life, reducing thermal degradation, performing oil analysis, and extending drain intervals requiring less make-up oil to be low foaming. Stellar Oil HT717® is the lubricant of choice for rotary screw, reciprocating, or rotary vane compressors in ammonia refrigeration systems. The single ISO grade is consistent with the recommendation of equipment manufacturers. Although designed for use in ammonia refrigeration systems, Stellar Oil HT717® is also recommended for use in systems using refrigerant R-22 and R-502 provided the evaporator temperature is above -32°C (-25°F). It is not recommended for systems using refrigerant R-12 or R-134a. Stellar Oil HT717® is compatible with the seal elastomers commonly used in refrigeration compressors (e.g., Buna-N, chloroprene). Naphthenic refrigeration oils can compromise the integrity of certain seal elastomers.Restrictions and changes to refrigerant requirements has become common and requires not only sales information, but consulting and expert recommendations. Piping -
Mechanical operations, especially in process or cooling applications rely heavily on its interconnectivity to run efficiently and safely. Stellar provides a complete range of engineering, fabrication, installation, and maintenance of process, mechanical, refrigeration and HVAC system piping to the food, power, pharmaceutical, healthcare and petrochemical industries. Piping, valves and other flow related components between compressors, chillers, evaporators, turbine inlet air coolers, condensers and process applications require more than a good weld and proper fastening by an ordinary contractor. Stellar has the resources, experienced engineers and technically advanced and trained mechanical fitters to handle the most complex piping requirements. Either at the jobsite or at Stellar's Star Fabricators, expert pipe fitters assemble and build piping systems, bridgework, skids and structural steel supports. Stellar's pipe fitters are certified arc, heli-arc, orbital, and Mig welders and have worked on many types of materials such as sanitary stainless steel systems, carbon steel, chrome moly, cast iron, plastics, fiberglass, copper, brass and aluminum.
Stellar ensures that each fabricated system will meet the tightest tolerances and meet all predefined codes. These codes prescribe requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, test, and inspection of refrigerant, heat transfer components and secondary coolant piping to meet standards set out by ASME, UL, ANSI-NFPA, ASHRAE and military specifications. Stellar has created its own piping program that is set above minimum industry standards for refrigerant recovery, weld testing, valve repair & testing, backflow testing & repair, fire protection system testing and repair.
Valves
Properly working control valves in a refrigeration system offer the operators a sense of relief during start-ups, shut-downs, preventative maintenance, emergency response and system troubleshooting. When a valve fails, the whole system fails and could cause much higher costs or result in a potentially dangerous release. Stellar stocks and distributes one of the largest refrigeration system valve inventories in the U.S. Each valve sold to our customers is manufacturer tested, tagged, and warranteed based on capacity, flow loop and other standards related to specific systems.

All fabrication is in accordance with ASME, TEMA, UL, and other codes as appropriate for the application.
