Open Universal Station (IOUS)

Product Name: Open Universal Station (IOUS)

Product Description

Introduction The Advanced-PS system is Yamatake’s latest open automation system for industrial plants. Designed to ensure progressive evolution from legacy control systems, Advanced-PS protects automation investments, delivers added power and enhances the flexibility of operations in industrial plants and factories. In today’s competitive markets, the knowledge contained in a system represents a significant part of the investment. Advanced-PS secures that invAe sWtminendto wansd N sTha-breass edda thau amcraons-sm tahceh winheo ilnet ecrofrapcoer,a tthioen O. pen Universal Station shares data with the Open History Station to merge automation of material processes, via the Open Gate for Ethernet, with business decision-making processes. The system enables multi-directional information flows between system users, process control systems and information management systems. The Open Universal Station (IOUS) is the human interface for the Advanced-PS system. The IOUS uses Windows NT for its operating system, and in addition to current process operation, transfers process data to an upstream data LAN (intranet) and display standard NT applications. The multi-window IOUS enables operators to view production instructions sent from upstream PCs and also view plant operating screens. The IOUS sends process data to PCs connected to the LAN, where it is displayed in alarm windows, message windows and process graphic windows. Also, using the office environment link, transfer process data to standard applications on LAN-based PCs. Hardware configuration: The IOUS has an ergonomically optimized design that eases operator interaction, and allows a fatigue-free work posture. The main electronics unit is mounted in the 5-slot chassis fitted beneath the console. An optional uninterruptible power supply can also be fitted in the chassis. Features The Open Universal Station (IOUS) has the following features. 1. High operability The IOUS optimizes user interaction in both process and office environments. 1) Process control A dust-and-drip resistant operator's keyboard is complemented by combinations of, touch-screen, mouse or track-ball. The composite keyboard offers excellent operability and comprises an operator's keyboard fitted with 85 user function keys, plus an 8-loop parallel operation keyboard. An ASCII-layout keyb2o) aOrdff iisc ea lesnov iinrsotnalmleedn. ts A stroke keyboard is used in conjunction with the mouse or track-ball. As a safety precaution, when in a multi-window environment, limit the total number of windows that open simultaneously. Also, specify in advance of use, window display positions. This eases to monitoring of important information such as process alarms. 3) Graphic displays Graphic windows display process monitoring graphics in applications that run on Windows NT. Easy-to-read, operation screens incorporate the best advantages of the Windows environment, enabling the resizing of displays zooming as well as other display parameters. 2. High safety 1) Hardware reliability design The main electronics unit of the IOUS incorporates high-reliability features. A dedicated power supply system is resistant to momentary power failures. And an external connection output is provided for cooling fins failure, mounted on an instrumentation chassis similar to that or the TDC 3000 system. An optional, uninterruptible power supply can be installed. 2) Hybrid processor The IOUS consists of two processors. The LCN processor (LCNP/LCNP4) exchanges data with devices on the LCN network, and also processes such basic functions alarm/event management and system status checks in the Real-time Network Operating System (RNOS). This architecture makes basic functions extremely robust. The Windows NT processor is connected to the Ethernet and, as the name suggests, processes graphic windows and standard applications (such as Excel) running on Windows NT. It also exchanges data with devices over the Ethernet. This construction maintains high reliability and sepa A firewall in the LCNP/LCNP4 protects data in the LCN during accessed from the upstream Ethernet. This prevents improper writing, network hacking, or virus entry from the Ethernet. 3. Upgrade compatibility Software of legacy systems is fully compatible IOUS stations, enabling applications that were run on TDC and TPS systems to be used without modification. Conversion of schematic screens that were created on legacy US platforms, to operate in IOUS graphic windows is supported by IOUS.
