Product Name: NSS-8
Product Description
New Skies Satellites ordered its first Satellite Development Center
spacecraft in March 2001. The spacecraft, called NSS-8, is a Boeing 702 model,
the most capable satellite today.
New Skies will deploy NSS-8 in the company's slot at 57 degrees East
longitude where it will provide C-band and Ku-band expansion capacity in
response to demand in the Indian Ocean region. NSS-8 will be launched aboard a
Sea Launch rocket and is expected to commence commercial service in early 2005.

NSS-8 will carry 56 active C-band and 36 active Kuband high power
transponders, making it one of the largest and highest power satellites in the
region. Its 27 beams will create nine footprints that will blanket Europe, Asia,
India, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and the Indian Ocean. Extensive
beam-to-beam interconnectivity built into NSS-8's design will allow New Skies to
offer flexible solutions to customer requirements and respond to market
conditions over the spacecraft's life.
Satellite Development Center introduced the Boeing 702 model in October 1995
as an evolution of its popular body-stabilized Boeing 601 line. The Boeing 702
can deliver payloads exceeding 90 active transponders and provide multiple
coverage beams. Power levels range from 10 kilowatts to more than 18 kilowatts.
New Skies is a global satellite communications company with five satellites
