Product Name: Aperture VISTA® Peregrine AssetCenter Interface
Product Description
Changes in the economic and regulatory environment combined with a more
cautious approach towards the implementation of new technological initiatives
have altered the way in which IT organizations perform and are measured. IT
organizations must manage all of their assets, including the infrastructure, as
a portfolio of investments where the value is constantly reevaluated. This
evaluation and the constant pressure to control costs and meet asset regulatory
requirements have accelerated the adoption of IT asset management programs with
an emphasis on managing the people, processes and tools.
In order to ensure the managed assets are actually utilized - and utilized
correctly - integration with configuration management is critical. This
integration synchronizes operational information (configuration management data)
with financial information (asset management data), and ultimately ensures that
the assets being managed are the assets in production within the data center.
Aperture VISTA® ensures that asset management initiatives
deliver the value expected by providing key information on the assets present in
the physical infrastructure, thereby improving the overall efficiency and
accuracy of the efforts. Aperture VISTA® provides integration of its
visual configuration repository of the physical infrastructure of the data
center with Peregrine AssetCenter, one of the leading asset management solutions
for IT organizations.

VISTA’s integration with AssetCenter ensures that a
coordinated and validated set of information is maintained regarding the devices
in the data center. To achieve this goal, the integration automatically detects
when a device exists in one system but not the other, with automated
notification to the appropriate administrator. This integration consists of the
following actions:
- Aperture VISTA® updates AssetCenter with device location
(e.g., rack name or grid location) whenever devices are installed or moved.
- Aperture VISTA® notifies AssetCenter when an asset has been
decommissioned.
- Aperture’s interfacing technology enables the definition of process for
initiating a VISTA installation, or decommission request, as a result of
creating or retiring an asset within AssetCenter.
- Aperture VISTA® generates an exception report of all the
assets found in one system but not in the other.
