This statement is part of Public Law 101-58, declaring January 1, 1990, the beginning of the "Decade of the Brain."
With neuroscience research as its target, Neurolab will contribute to President Bush's declaration. The space agency has designated the mission as a premier part of its activities in support of this mandate. The call for attention to neuroscience follows a growing awareness of the relationship between the neurological system and a wide range of diseases and disorders that affect not only Americans, young and old, but people around the Earth.
With the study of basic research questions in neuroscience as one of its goals, Neurolab will provide a unique contribution to the study and treatment of neurological disorders and diseases.
