new product developed expressly for composite construction. Spyder foam has two times the compressional strength of blue foam and greater shear strength. Spyder foam's unique design incorporates a fine cell structure that is alinged perpendicular to the wing surface, creating a ridge honeycomb effect. The vertical cell alignment allows for better penetration of the EZ-LAM epoxy resin into the foam's surface thereby enhancing the bond and the shear strength between the foam and the wing skin.
Spyder foam weighs about 10% more than blue foam, but due to it's higher strength ,lighter laminates can be used for wing skins resulting in a lighter and stiffer wing . Spyder foam can be cut with a hot wire in the same manner as blue foam.
