Unidirectional Carbon

Product Name: Unidirectional Carbon

Product Description

Our unidirectional carbon fiber - AeroUNI - is a non-woven fabric (not a sleeve), ideal for reinforcing flat surfaces. The fabric is held together by a binder material on one side only, which results in virtually no crimp in the fibers. Traditional woven carbon fiber is inherently inefficient, especially for straight surfaces. The fact that fibers are bundled into tows, and have to travel under and over other carbon tows, limits its load bearing capacity. AeroUNI, however, is made from fibers running in one direction. Using two layers of AeroUNI, running perpendicular to one another, will produce a finished product 18% stiffer and 45% stronger than a comparable twill woven cloth using the same fibers.
