MPU 01 or MPU 03

Product Name: MPU 01 or MPU 03

Product Description

HIGH SPEED PERFORATION SYSTEM - MPU 01 or MPU 03 The next evolution in film perforation technology is the MaKlaus High Speed Perforating System. The perforating unit’s unique design allows punch rates of up to 2,400 cycles per minute (40 cycles per second). So for a web moving at a rate of 400 feet per minute (120 meters per minute) firing the perforator at a rate of 40 cycles per second would yield rows of holes spaced in the machine direction at 2” (50 mm) apart. In some cases this would eliminate a separate converting process, by placing a MaKlaus system in-line with extrusion. This innovative system uses less than one-fifth the amount of compressed air compared to current systems. This reduction in compressed air translates into a lower electric consumption due to lower air compressor cycle rates. The perforating unit’s integrated design eliminates air cylinders, thus reducing the number of parts, inventory, and operational cost. The standard film perforating units can perforate PE films up to 16 mils (400 micron). Thicker films can now be perforated up to 32 mils (800 micron) using the optional larger capacity perforator units. Wider products can also be processed with film widths up to 138” (3,500 mm). Minimum transverse direction hole spacing from 0.6” (15 mm) is now achievable. In addition to close transverse direction perforation spacing; hole diameters in the following ranges can be produced: • 0.13” - 0.6” (3 to 15mm ), model MPU 01 • 0.63” - 4.7” (16 to 120mm ), model MPU 03 Distinguishing this high speed perforation system apart, is its operator touch screen interface. The film producer has the ability to select which perforating units are to fire, and to select the minimum amount of force delivered to accomplish the job. The benefits are less downtime due to on-the-fly hole pattern selection, low compressed air consumption, and more up-time due to lower wear on the dies’ surface. First row hole distance can be set at the operator interface panel. Subsequent machine direction distances between row holes can also be set at the touch screen from a voltage signal or from a print registry. The system’s web speed compensation programming which allows the perforations to be precisely located as web speed varies. Electrical power consumed by the MaKlaus high speed perforation system is just a mere 0.35 kW-Hr. The MaKlaus system may be supplied with the optional machine mounting kit which allows the quick installation, and centering of the unit in the vertical and horizontal planes. Space permitting, this mounting system allows 6” (150 mm) adjustment at each side, and 5.5” (140 mm) of up and down travel.
