Product Name: Spherical Backed Bearings for Power Generation Plant
Product Description
The bearings were produced in ductile iron with a high level of quality
control and N.D.T.
Step 1
Two pairs of bearings were supplied of different size using the customers free
issue pattern equipment.
Step 2
The material was a ductile iron to BS EN 1563 450/10. The specification
controlled chemical analysis, mechanical test and hardness with each bearing
being traceable to a certified melt number.
Step 3
Following fettling, the bearings were stress relieved and returned for N.D.T. at
the foundry
Step 4
The N.D.T. Included Magnetic Particle Inspection for surface cracking,
ultrasonic inspection for internal soundness and an ultrasonic technique
(pictured) to check the nodularity of the material throughout the metal section.
They were then dispatched to the customer for machining.
