Product Name: Division of Inorganic Chemistry

Product Description

The division of Inorganic Chemistry is part of the Department of Physical, Inorganic and Structural Chemistry at Stockholm University.

The division hosts about 40 people including 16 PhD students.

Research

Inorganic Chemistry is the doctrine of the elements and chemical compounds. It is often referd to as basic chemistry, and it is an exceptionally broad field with large connections to other research fields. This allows the activities at the division of inorganic chemistry to a higher extent then at other disciplines of chemistry to be defined by the research interest of single persons.

The inorganic chemistry at Stockholm University has long been focused on the solid state, and projects concerning synthesis, properties and structure characterisation of new compounds still has a prominent position. Projects that can be defined from compound classes concern e.g. low-dimensional oxides and intermetallic phases.

The activities at the division span from the very basic to the more applicable. A natural development has been towards focusing more on materials chemistry. Projects defined from material types include synthesis and process methods for ceramic materials and glasses, which is a prominent field within the activities, as is the development of hierarchically ordered materials.

The material activities within inorganic chemistry is part of the Berzelii center EXSELENT, which is coordinated from the department of Physical, Inorganic and Structural Chemistry.

Additional information about the research and the projects that currently is being run at the whole department can be found in the research field section.

Company Details

The department today hosts about 95 people, and we are one of the oldest chemistry departments at Stockholm University. The chemistry section, including the department, moved from Kungsstensgatan 45 to our current location in the Arrhenius... more
