Weather Proof and Explosion Proof Phones

Quality phones for every application

Say you work on an offshore platform. You will need weather proof and explosion proof phones that are reliable, robust and durable.

Not only will your explosion proof phones have to withstand the elements, but you will still need to make sure that they are explosion protected as well.

That's where our phones come in. These quality phones were designed with a harsh, hazardous environment in mind.

In some instances, however, you may only need a simple phone for indoor use in a gaseous environment, or conversely, you may require a weather proof phone for installation in a safe area? In each of those cases, we will have the right product for you.

The ExResistTel , for instance, is one such explosion proof AND weather proof phone that was designed specifically with extreme environments - such as offshore platforms - in mind. It is resistant to large temperature differences, air humidity, sea water, dust and strong mechanical wear and tear.

The FernTel 2 is an ideal explosion proof phone for installation in a zone 2 hazardous area. Even though still very robust, it's housing which is made of impact-resistant and shock-proof polycarbonate weighs a lot less. Both these phones are also available in weatherproof-only versions.

If you want or need to telephone in areas where this is normally not possible, you need a sound-powered telephone system. Sound-powered telephony is ideal for communications whenever there is no power supply available, e.g. at blast furnaces, in tunnelling or mining, or offshore on oil rigs or high-sea steamers, and provides a direct connection to the switchboard, base, bridge or colleagues on the surface. The HowlCall is one such sound-powered telephone.

For indoors use, we would recommend this intrinsically safe phone which can be either wall-mounted or just used as a normal phone, on your desk. It can be connected to an analogue public telephone network or a private branch exchange.
