The Atlas Ethernet Communication Module enables fast, secure, and reliable wired sensor network applications using the Atlas Platform. The module provides seamless communication between the Atlas nodes and the AtlaSoft Middleware. Data collected from sensors is bundled in packets and transmitted to user applications. In the same vein, commands can be sent from applications and executed on the Atlas Platform. Both behaviors allow input from and output to the Atlas device.

The AtlaSoft Middleware provides the many service discovery and configuration mechanisms necessary to create wired programmable pervasive spaces. Middleware bundles listen for connections from Atlas Ethernet nodes, manage the sensor and actuator service bundles uploaded by the nodes, and provide mechanisms for connecting these bundles with other services and applications running in the framework.
