The PowerDisk is a compact and powerful thin disk laser system which consists of the seed laser, the regenerative amplifier and optional modules for frequency conversion. The generated pulses have a duration of around 10 ns. The energy per pulse reaches 25 mJ at 1030 nm with a repetition rate of 1 kHz.
The PowerDisk utilizes all the advantages of thin disk laser technology. Due to its excellent optical and thermal properties, it generates very strong pulses with high peak power. All this is achieved with perfect Gaussian intensity distribution across the output laser beam and true single frequency operation.
Applications include high-resolution laser spectroscopy, e.g. the determination of gas traces in low temperature combustion processes. With frequency quadrupling stages, absorption lines in the deep UV can be reached (for example mercury).
