Battelle's Human Factors Transportation Center (HFTC) supports industry and
government in developing and evaluating transportation systems. The human
factors staff work with clients to establish policy, develop guidelines, and
support the system development process to improve the productivity, safety, and
acceptance of existing and developing transportation systems. Battelle's Human
Factors team applies behavioral science and engineering techniques to the
requirements and capabilities of transportation system users, operators, and
maintainers. We support system design, development, and evaluation in all modes
of transportation, including ground, rail, marine, and air. Our services to
industry span all stages of system development, including requirements
specification, design, fabrication, implementation, and evaluation. HFTC also
supports industrial clients in the selection and implementation of appropriate
technologies for their work force. Government services include the development
