Battelle pioneered the development of tools and methods for processing
aviation incident data. We have supported FAA/NASA Ames in the operation of the
Aviation Safety Reporting System since its inception in 1976. We also are
developing computerized analysis tools for the FAA and the U.S. air carrier
industry. These tools include automated data retrieval, analysis, and
visualization tools for digital flight recorder data from U.S. air carriers;
computerized analysis tools to help FAA inspectors identify trends that impact
safety; and integrated analysis tools for use by aircraft certification
specialists.
