Due to the extensive use of I.T.T Dia-Flo valves throughout the industry,
specialised applications have become a major factor, non more so than slurry
duties. Due to a streamlined flow path and virtually no cavities for product
entrapment, the weir type Dia-Flo valve is ideally suited for the job. On heavy
and denser slurries, the Straightway Diaphragm Valve is recommended.
For abrasive products, five different rubber linings are available to deal with
even highly corrosive media.
Innovative Design
A common complaint regarding diaphragm valves is that an over zealous operator
can damage the diaphragm if they over tighten the hand wheel. This problem has
been ironed out with the Dia-Flo valve due to its unique diaphragm compressor.
Here, unlike other diaphragm valves, there is no 'point loading' on the
diaphragm itself, the place where most damage occurs, instead the Dia-Flo valve
incorporates a large compressor pad that spreads the load evenly throughout the
diaphragm. This is aided by way of a floating tube nut that guides the diaphragm
into the seating area. As soon as pressure builds up on the tube nut, by the
operator tightening the hand wheel,.it retracts back into the valves shaft to
allow the compressor pod to continue down and close the valve.
Actuation Control
The I.T.T Dia-Flo range of diaphragm valves also includes a complete range of
pneumatic actuators allowing for spring return, both fail closed and fail open,
double acting, and special bonnets are available should the customer request a
different actuator type. Another innovation available is the Dualrange control
valve. Here special attention is given to the compressors inside the valve
bonnet, clever amnipulation of teh diaphragm allows for fine control over the
flow path to give a highly accurate controlled response.
