For virtually every major industry process, moisture-free compressed air is a vital component. From food and textiles to chemicals, petroleum and metals manufacturing, compressed air is essential to blending, compressing, dehydration, weaving, molding, hoisting, and bottling - to name a few applications.

Dry compressed air is also critical to dozens of field applications in the non-manufacturing sectors, including the operation of pneumatic tools, air brakes and suspension systems, farm equipment, air tanks, respirator systems, climate controls, and other familiar field products.

Engelhard adsorbents, Sorbead™ WS and Sorbead™ R, provide superior drying properties in most of these applications.

In air drying equipment, Sorbead products are included in adsorbers to reduce moisture to dew point levels well below the freezing point. This prevents condensation of moisture and protects compressed air distribution networks, compressed air-driven tools and other devices. Sorbead also protects the quality of the finished products. 

To ensure continuous operation, typically, two Sorbead adsorbents are operated in parallel lines. While one line is in drying mode, the other line is regenerating. Two regeneration methods are employed: "heatless" using dry, expanded and compressed air, or "heated" using heated ambient or compressed air.

Sorbead is particularly effective in the four most commonly used dryers: internally heated; externally heated blower purge; externally heated blower purgeless; and heat-of-compression dryers.
