For example, Engelhard Exterior Mearlin® pigments impart a range of optical effects from a soft, satin luster to a sharp metallic brilliance, while Lumina® colors bring high chroma and extreme color purity. Firemist™ patented borosilicate-based pigments impart brilliant color and a starlike glitter effect and enhance the feeling of depth in plastic coatings. Engelhard Black Olive™ pigment, a black, mica-based pigments with champagne undertones, adds depth and luster to both water- and solvent-based plastic coating formulations. 

Also, for many nylon under-the-hood and mechanical parts, such as mirror housings and hubcaps, Translink® reinforcements are used to improve strength and heat distortion, while maintaining high impact strength and lowering costs.
