Product Description

This course is designed to provide in-depth instruction on the use of HAZUS-MH for advanced applications related to wind-loss modeling. The HAZUS-MH Preview Hurricane Model allows users in the Atlantic and Gulf Coast regions of the United States to estimate hurricane winds and potential damage and loss to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. It also allows users to estimate direct economic loss, post-storm shelter needs, and building and tree debris quantities. Detailed lessons include: Hurricane Hazard Methodology, Deterministic and Probabilistic Analysis, Mitigation Analysis, Building Damage and Loss, Shelter and Debris Models, Advanced Spatial Queries, and Combined Hurricane and Flood Analysis.

Selection Criteria:

The audience for this course includes state and local emergency managers and GIS specialists, state and local planners, regional personnel responsible for wind mitigation and response activities, and other federal agencies. A strong working knowledge of ArcGIS is recommended.

Prerequisites:

E313, Basic HAZUS Multi-Hazard course.
