Product Name: Lightweight Acoustic Sensor System (LASS)
Product Description
The State-of-the-Art Acoustic Phased-Array Surveillance Sensor
DRS's Lightweight Acoustic Sensor System (LASS) is a state-of-the-art sensor system used by the U.S. Navy's Mobile In-shore Undersea Warfare (MIUW) amphibious operations as the primary sensor for undersea surveillance. The Lightweight Acoustic Sensor System is a bottom-mounted phased array, which detects and provides acoustic threat data to the AN/SQR-17A (V2000) Signal Processor System by monitoring surface ships, small boats, submarines, mini-subs and swimmer delivery vehicles. The LASS demonstrates proven versatility with the ability to transmit data to shore sites using either VHF radio links with a commandable surface buoy or to connect to shore via fiber optic cable.
