Product Description
DRS's OPUS range of rugged multi-function consoles (MFCs) capitalizes upon standard commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) architectures to deliver the latest computing and display technology into both new and technology insertion programs. The range has been developed to host a variety of applications, such as combat systems, fire control, command and control, sonar and other processor and graphically intense tasks, and is designed to meet relevant military requirements for harsh environments.
The basic design is capable of supporting a mix of compact PCI and standard VME processors and interface cards, removable hard disks, CD-ROM and associated peripherals. The unit can be configured with one or two high-resolution displays, which are stand-alone devices that can be used either as an integral part of the MFC or as separate desktop or bulkhead mounted display consoles. A dual redundant power supply with integral UPS and 'hot swap' modules provides for a fault tolerant power management subsystem.
The OPUS line of consoles offers systems integrators increased flexibility in overall system design, enabling the implementation of several systems using a small number of common components, accompanied by enhanced operational effectiveness and reduced cost of ownership.
