EviDots are an exciting new semiconductor nanocrystal quantum dot technology developed by Evident Technologies. Ideal for nanotechnology researchers and product developers, EviDots provide scientists with a variety of nanocrystals suspended in a solution for experimentation and applications development.

About Evident's Semiconductor Nanocrystal Quantum Dots

EviDots are manufactured quantum dots that range in size from 2-10 nm and contain less than 1,000 atoms. Each EviDot type is precisely composed of the same material but exhibits different emission properties based upon the size of the quantum dot.

EviDots produce high quantum yields with intense fluorescent brightness at targeted peak wavelengths. Available in a wide range of colors, EviDots exhibit a broad excitation spectrum and can be excited by light at any wavelength shorter than the EviDot's stated emission peak. This makes possible simultaneous detection of nanocrystals with different emission peaks, imaging and quantification. EviDots are available for applications ranging in wavelength from 490-2000 nm.

EviDot Applications

EviDot semiconductor nanocrystals can be used to enhance and expand applications in photonics, biological and nanotechnology optics.

  • Biology -- fluorescent tags to measure and quantify biological phenomena
  • Precision light calibration -- a source of precision wavelength materials
  • Semiconductors -- "designer atoms" that allow control of the bandgap through material and composition sizes
  • LEDs -- tunable colors for light-emitting diodes
  • Photovoltaic Solar Cells -- low-cost, high-efficiency devices
  • Optical Transistors -- ultra-fast switching devices under 1 picosecond

Ocean Optics Systems for Use with Evidots

Ocean Optics makes available numerous light sources and filters that can be used to excite EviDot nanocrystals. For instance, the LS-450 LED Excitation source can be used with an LED-380 bulb to produce light at 380 nm and excite the full range of EviDots. For broadband light sources that produce energy above the EviDot's peak emission wavelength, an Ocean Optics Linear Variable Filter (LVF) is suggested. An LVF effectively blocks or passes light between 300-700 nm.

To assemble a complete fluorescence spectrophotometric system for use with EviDots, Ocean Optics recommends its USB4000-FL Spectrometer and a USB-LS-450 Pulsed LED excitation source.

QD-CS-VIS: Core Shell EviDot Test Kit

EviDots core-shell nanocrystals have a unique zinc sulfide shell coating that stabilizes the core, improves quantum yield and reduces photo-degradation.

QD-CS-VIS Core Shell EviDot Test Kit: Cadmium selenide semiconductor nanocrystals with a zinc sulfide shell. Stored in toluene solvent. Recommended for visible fluorescence applications, electroluminescence, and LEDs.

Choose six vials of CdSe/ZnS Core Shell EviDots from the following wavelengths:

  • 520 nm Adirondack Green

  • 540 nm Catskill Green

  • 560 nm Hops Yellow
