Product Name: Alcatel-Lucent 1540 Litespan Multiservice Access Gateway

Product Description

The Alcatel-Lucent 1540 Litespan Multiservice Access Gateway is a robust, scalable multivendor-compatible access node which supports multiple transport technologies such as GigEthernet, ATM, SDH or PDH, and enables service providers to offer any mix of revenue-generating. It is an attractive solution to smoothly evolve traditional access networks to a next-generation network (NGN) and to a full triple play network. Alcatel-Lucent has announced the integration of the technology of its market leading ISAM (Intelligent Services Access Manager) product family into the 1540 Litespan. With this integration service providers looking to grow or replace legacy voice lines will now be able to offer their customers user-centric triple play services including full video and broadcast TV.

Benefits

Multiservice capabilities for increased revenue generation
Support of multiple topologies for more flexible applications
Support of multiple transport options for easy integration with existing networks
Open interfaces
Rapid deployment
Lower CAPEX, lower OPEX, increased revenues
Future-ready and safe investment evolution to NGN

Features

32-port POTS card with integrated ringing and testing functionalities, freeing up more slots for actual services
GigaEthernet network interface, increasing flexibility when connecting to the IP data backbone through metro Ethernet networks
Voice controller and servers hot switchover, making sure that the voice calls are not interrupted in the case of controller failures
MultiDSL (ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2plus), assuring the best in class operations for broadband services in copper loops
Multiple virtual circuits allocated per end-user, assuring that no service can degrade the quality of any other
IGMP (V3) proxy and snooping for multi-cast transmission of video streaming, optimizing bandwidth resources while delivering ITPV
Higher VISC scalability and capacity, serving up to more than 4,000 subscribers per system
Wire-speed, bottleneck-free internal Gigabit point-to-point Ethernet bus, being a key component for the provision of broadcast video services such as IPTV

Information

Breaking the Bottleneck: A Guide to Transforming Your Access Network - May. 12, 2006
New access networks must enable new and legacy voice services, reduce the cost of operations and still allow for aggressive build-out. This can only be achieved by building an integrated IP/Ethernet-based access network. The ISAM platform makes this possible with unequalled network topology, flexibility and PSTN-class quality enhancements.
