The Alcatel-Lucent 5580 Home Network Manager (HNM) is a remote management solution that solves the service-provider challenge of managing home networks. It provides advanced functionalities for device configuration, software download, inventory, problem detection and troubleshooting. It supports an advanced policy engine that enables automated management of a large number of home devices (mass operations). 

The Alcatel-Lucent 5580 HNM provides multivendor CPE management based on the DSL Forum TR-069 management standard. It also supports a flexible northbound interface, for tight integration with a service provider's information systems (OSSs/BSSs). 

The Alcatel-Lucent 5580 HNM is a major building block of the Alcatel-Lucent Digital Home Care solution, which is based on the products and expertise of Alcatel-Lucent and its partner Motive.
