The Alcatel-Lucent 5530 NA focuses on two major aspects of managing your Alcatel-Lucent DSL and broadband access (BBA) services: network diagnosis and analysis. Network diagnosis package accelerates the resolution of complex loop, performance and configuration problems of a DSL. The network analysis package provides network-wide line classification and analysis functions that help service providers to manage their installed base proactively. In addition, it allows assessing the DSL installed base against bandwidth, quality and stability requirements of new services.

In response to increased competitive pressure and consumer demands, service providers world-wide are upgrading their networks to enable the delivery of triple-play services (voice, video and data). Stable, high-quality broadband connections - in addition to increased bandwidth - are required for delivering rich media services effectively and reliably. When bandwidth is increased, problems with line quality are multiplied, threatening the delivery of new services. Dynamic line management (DLM) configures lines dynamically and automatically to ensure high quality and stability. DLM determines the best configuration profile for a service, depending on the measured line conditions. If line problems are detected, settings can be adjusted automatically, minimizing (or avoiding) service interruptions.
