These include water-repellent glass for improved visibility and safety for automobiles, UV absorbing glass that responds to health concerns, environmentally friendly green-tinted solar control glass for greater comfort, glass antennas for use with the mobile communication systems vital to today's information society, and ornamental and shading glass products colored with transparent inks for enhanced design and comfort. The Transportation Glass and Materials Technical Center works to realize the automobiles and high-speed railway cars of the future Through close cooperation with manufacturers of automobiles and other transportation equipment, the Technical Center develops high-value-added products that meet the needs of customers. In addition to farsighted functional products, we also develop innovative manufacturing technology that allows the company to compete globally. We are also active in conceiving technologies for evaluating the functions and quality of products. Coordinated management from the development and prototyping of new models to establishment of manufacturing technology is also an important role of the Technical Center. As a global supplier with global development network We are enhancing the global network of the business in cooperation with Pilkington, which is the largest glass manufacturer in the world and of which NSG is a shareholder. In R&D activities, in order to realize speedy design and development of new products expected for a global supplier, our engineers including those at the Technical Center put importance on mobility to support this global business, utilizing various assisting tools such as computer simulation systems, CAE and CAD/CAM
