Product Description
DDR3 is the memory solution of choice for next-generation, high-performance
CPU systems. With DDR3 technology, Micron engineers have pushed the DDR2
envelope in the key areas of power consumption, signaling speeds, and bandwidth
to bring new levels of performance to desktop, notebook, and server computing.
Micron's DDR3 products are manufactured on 78nm process technology and are
fully compliant with the JEDEC DDR3 specification. They support data rates of
800 MT/s to 1,600 MT/s, with clock frequencies of 400 MHz to 800 MHz,
respectively—effectively doubling the speed of DDR2. The DDR3 supply voltage
has also been reduced from 1.8V to 1.5V, cutting power consumption by up to 30
percent.
Slated for production in early 2007, Micron's 1Gb DDR3 components will be
available in x4, x8, and x16 configurations and will support various module
types—FBDIMMs, UDIMMs, SODIMMs, and RDIMMs—and densities from 512MB to 4GB.
