Transportation forensics Accident Reconstruction

Product Name: Transportation forensics Accident Reconstruction

Product Description

Often there are differences of opinion as to what or who caused an accident. McDowell Owens’ engineers perform comprehensive investigations and analyses of accident sites and related elements to determine the history of a vehicular accident and the factors that caused it. We evaluate information from the accident site and vehicles, drivers and occupants, manufacturers and roadway conditions. Computer analysis and review of physical evidence can determine vehicle speed, trajectory, and mechanical, metallurgical or electrical failures. Frequently, this is the only way to determine what happened and why. Specific areas of expertise include: Biomechanics Component Analysis and Testing Restraint Systems Analysis & Testing Vehicle Dynamics Testing Biomechanics A multi-disciplinary approach involving engineering and biomedical science enables McDowell Owens to determine whether injuries are consistent with all aspects of the accident, injured party(ies) account or witness statement, and the effectiveness of safety systems, such as restraints and air bags. We have experience in a wide range of accident analysis, including but not limited to low- and high-speed collisions. Component Analysis and Testing Our technical team provides failure analysis to determine whether a component caused the accident and/or contributed to the damages. Analysis includes: Engine/transmission Brake system Suspension and steering system Accelerator/cruise control linkage Tire and wheel examination Air bags Seatbelts Restraint Systems Analysis & Testing McDowell Owens performs detailed analysis on all types of restraint systems, including factors influencing their use, operation and failure. Our analysis includes testing of components and sensors as well as mathematical modeling. Vehicle Dynamics Testing Through computer modeling and demonstration, McDowell Owens examines vehicular accidents by focusing on the dynamics and physics of the incident. Factors that are analyzed include specific performance data such as the effects of acceleration, momentum, inertia, collision duration, velocity changes, and the extent of energy absorption upon such external forces as road conditions, tire conditions, and braking and vehicle deformation.
