The German course and (railways) Vodafone want to test an electronic ticket system with NFC technology (Near Field Communication) starting from autumn. This technology combines RFID with portable radio and makes a contactless data communication possible with maximally 424 KBit/s over transmitting straining of few centimeters. To the “Touch&Travel” passengers announce themselves baptized system by means of the close radio engineering to start of the trip and - end at special terminals (“Touchpoints”) on and/or off
In addition the customer holds its equipped mobile phone with a NFC chip by the terminal and presses a certain key. From in such a way determined travel data the ticket price is then computed and charged for monthly. With the mobile terminals of the railway course companions or special smart cards it can be likewise controlled by NFC whether the passenger its Handyticket solved. When possible disturbances the system on and notice of departure are to be able to be conveyed also by telephone.

Starting from October the system on the railway distance Hanover Berlin as well as in the urban suburban traffic of the Potsdamer of transporting enterprises and a part of the citizens of Berlin rapid-transit railway is to be tested. The partners want to develop and with successful test Germany far offer the Ticketing system in the coming years for ready for the market ones. In the future the NFC technology could be integrated also into the SIM map. Participants of the pilot attempt of “Touch&Travel” receive a suitable mobile phone from Motorola, which were presented on the CeBIT.
