High performance pumps for large particles

Latest technology has given a range of industrial pumps the ability to handle recycled fluids with particles in suspension of up to 500 microns.
For example, in the mining industry, slurry pumps are staged together to boost hydraulic pressure to as high as 600-700 psi. A low flow, high pressure pump is often used to deliver clean seal flush water to the packing gland assembly on each large slurry pump. This seal flushing application is critical and the Wanner Hydra-Cell is proving to be most dependable for the job.
When conventional plunger or piston pumps are used, problems occur for two main reasons: pulsation and packing wear. The notable pulsation that occurs during most reciprocal pump operation is caused by the relatively long suction and discharge strokes of the piston. It is during the inlet stroke, when the pressure drops dramatically, even for a fraction of a second that allows slurry to migrate into the seal area of the tailings pumps.
The Hydra-Cell, with its comparatively short piston stroke, provides steady pressure to the gland area, keeping the seal free from contaminate. What’s more, there are no packings, cups or seals to wear in the Hydra-Cells.
Hydra-Cell pumps are efficiency rated at 80-85 percent and usually require a much smaller driver (electric motor, hydraulic motor, stationary engine, P.T.O. etc) than conventional type pumps. They are robust but compact, requiring much less space and, properly installed, require less maintenance time, with fluid end components being easy to replace from service kits available. Accessories include a range of pressure regulating valves, oil maintenance items, tool kits and pump/motor adaptors for some models.
Other high pressure applications include wash down of earthmoving vehicles, tank washing, conveyor belts, and dust suppression-fogging.
