A hard disk of 512 GB flash from Toshiba!

Toshiba launches range of flash drives Serial ATA 300 MB / s (for SSD Solid State Drive), with a maximum capacity of 512 GB for 2.5-inch models and 256 gigabyte 1.8 inch. This density record is made possible by the adoption of components etched into 43 nm.

This new generation of circuits adopt NAND Flash SLC (Single-Level Cell), with advanced features: 240 MB / s read for 200 Mb / s write. A unit of AES encryption equipment is present, great news.

This entire range is available from April 2009, at a price not disclosed yet, but likely to be quite high. The SSD 2.5-inch models include 64 GB (THNS064GG2BB), 128 GB (THNS128GG4BB), 256 GB (THNS256GG8BB) and 512 GB (THNS512GG8BB).

Volumes of 1.8 inches will fall between classical records of 64 GB (THNS064GG2BA), 128 GB (THNS128GG4BA) and 256 GB (THNS256GG8BA) modules and ultra lightweight (15 g!) Of the same capacities (THNS064GG2BM, THNS128GG4BM and THNS256GG8BM ). We do not yet know if the price of these modules will enable their integration into portable media players.

Toshiba believes that the DSS will equip 10% of laptops by 2010 and 25% by the year 2012.
