Nissan Pedal Eco: a technology barrier to over consumption

:: 05 September, 2008

Nissan unveiled its latest technology called Eco Pedal. It allows according to the Japanese manufacturer to reduce and adapt its fuel consumption depending on traffic conditions through a software calculating real-time consumption and the real need for energy.

The technical process? When the system is switched on (you can disconnect freely), it calculates the rate of fuel used and ideal, compared to traffic conditions through sensors. When consumption is greater than the needs (too pressure on the accelerator pedal), Eco Pedal acts with a mechanism to return to tell the driver to lift the foot. Here, the expression takes another direction!

The driver can also track the optimal level of energy efficiency through an integrated eco-meter dash. If the level of consumption is an ideal green light is switched on but will blink first as a warning of over consumption. The engineers in charge of development and design of this pedal stressed that the return on the use of gasoline and is optimized for 5 to 10% depending on road conditions. The Eco Pedal (econometrician version of Nissan) is expected to appear at the heart of the Nissan range from next year.
