P2P: Suprnova.org died, lives Suprnova.org!
:: 09 August, 2007
When the Suprnova.org site had succumbed in 2004 pennies the blows of paring-iron of the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), the persons in charge for this one had rubbed the hands and thought the closed business. It was without counting on the legendary tenacity of the Net surfers who always grouillent around competitor sites…
The waiters of Suprnova.org did not lodge pirated programs strictly speaking, but many “trackers”, these small files with the BitTorrent format which, used jointly with a software Peer to Peer (P2P), made it possible to be connected directly on host-computers of the coveted file, music, video or other. This principle of operation had been worth many annoyances with the editors in order to obtain that the illegality is declared by it, and currently of other relatively similar sites still exist (p2pnet.net, Zeropaid, Slyck, p2pforums…).
One among them, ThePirateBay.org, has been just pointed out while proposing in Andrej Preston, the Swedish founder of Suprnova.org, to perpetuate the existence on the condition of it of being able to use its domain name, and to thus benefit from its notoriety. And thus whereas a number of them are with the joy, the history transfers rather with the nightmare for the majors and the industry of the cinema…
Because not only ThePirateBay.org wants ressusciter Suprnova.org, but still wants it to make of it the use even simpler and convivial. According to Peter Sunde, one of the cofounders of ThePirateBay, the use of a software of P2P became obsolete. With the new site, it will be enough to click on a reference and a Java applet integrated into the waiter will be activated, directly putting the computer customer in network with the target machines lodging the required file.
Sunde recognizes however that the development of its system, which functions already with a few tens of privileged beta-testers, longer than is envisaged. Suprnova news version should already have been born last March, declares it, but it will be available within one week or two, with more than one million bonds. But the fight counters the hacking, increasingly effective and whose “apprentices-hackers” make the expenses regularly, won't discourage with long the Net surfers to risk fines and seized by material to save the price of some CD?
And especially, will the new site resist a long time the attacks of the editors and other industrialists of the disc, audio and videos? Only one thing is certain, their lawyers sharpen already their the most frayed blades…
