Description:
CH2M HILL is looking for a dynamic person to fill an immediate need for a Civil Engineer-Landfill and Stormwater Management Systems in our Las Vegas, NV office. Primary area of emphasis will be on engineering plan and specification preparation and oversight for grading and drainage and environmental projects. Work typically includes writing of construction specifications, development and review of civil design plans (using AutoCADD and Microstation), performing design calculations, field sampling and reporting, and regulatory report preparation. Experience with field construction inspection or construction management is necessary.
Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated knowledge of industry-standard engineering and construction management principles, and be able to follow prescribed procedures, evaluate design criteria and select most responsive design approach, and apply proven design techniques.

Candidate must have the ability to work independently with only limited supervision. Candidate may provide technical oversight to technicians and entry level engineers and assist in more complex assignments. May be expected to work on proposals or provide other business development or client relationship support on occasion.

Basic Qualifications

Successful candidate will possess:
- A Bachelors degree in civil engineering;
- EIT certification;
- A minimum of 6 years of grading and drainage design experience, preferably on landfill and environmental projects;
- Experience in the preparation of construction-level engineering plans and specifications;
- Experience in construction inspection or construction management;
- Experience with project controls and scheduling; and
- Ability to spend up to 50% of the time in the field.

Degree Required: BA/BS

Certification Required: EIT

Preferred Qualifications:
Along with the basic qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess:
- A Masters degree in civil or environmental engineering with 6 to 10 years of experience in municipal or hazardous landfill planning, design, permitting, construction and closure.
- Technical expertise in related areas such as solid waste systems, landfill gas management and control, leachate management and treatment, final cover design including alternative systems, regulatory compliance, odor control, composting technology and transfer station design.
- PE certification.
