Research Fellow/ Research Assistant
Vibration Monitoring/Signal Processing

£21,267 to £28,633 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)
We are seeking to appoint either a Research Assistant or Research Fellow, to
work on a project in the School of Engineering. The School has a strong record
in applied research in the academic and industrial sectors. Application areas
include vibration monitoring of complex mechanical systems, advance real-time
signal processing; multi-sensor fusion; multi-phase flows and are applied to the
Power Generation, Automotive, Aircraft and Oil industries.
Your research activity will be dedicated to the investigation of innovative
vibration monitoring technologies for machines and structures and advanced
signal processing techniques.
You will have a background in vibration and signal processing with application
to vibration damage monitoring. You will have a good first degree in mechanical
engineering, electrical engineering, or a related subject and a PhD (for
Research Fellow post) and experience in a relevant topic. Experience is required
in programming (Matlab, including Signal Processing Toolbox) and vibration
experiments with machines and structures.
The post will commence in spring 2008; the end of the project is December 2009.
The appointment at either Research Fellow or Research Assistant will be made
depending on the relevant experience and qualifications of the successful
applicant.
