Position Responsibilities

    Define, develop and commercialize new, improved processing technologies to support new product introductions, reduce cost and/or improve quality. Serve as processing expert for Lamb Weston and across Conagra Foods. Develop, direct, or acquire innovative process technology (preferably ownable) to deliver competitive advantages through new products, quality/shelf life improvement, yield improvement, and/or cost reduction.

  • Understand the process technology needs for Lamb Weston. Stay abreast of applicable new process technology partnering working with Universities, suppliers, and competition to deliver an ownable competitive edge.
  • Understand the equipment needs across the potato processing platform
  • Assist R&D teams by developing advanced process technology for innovative new products that extend beyond the capabilities of their own process development teams.
  • Assist Engineering on projects that extend beyond their own internal capabilities in process design/modification, equipment selection, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist Operations in areas that extend beyond their own internal capabilities on process changes to improve quality, yield, efficiency, or otherwise reduce cost.
  • Assist Quality in areas that extend beyond their own internal capabilities on process changes to improve first pass quality and reduce rejects.
  • Coordinate process development activities aiding in the exchange of process technology based solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of process engineering, processing equipment, and unit operations widely recognized as an expert in this field.
  • Thorough understanding of food science and how food is affected through processing.
  • Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitary design, and equipment cleaning.
  • Financial understanding to optimize profitability.
  • Proven troubleshooting skill with demonstrated ability to “think on their feet.”
  • Presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Networking capability across industry and academia here and internationally.
  • Ability to work with other ConAgra Groups to garner their support and enthusiasm.
  • Understanding of food/package interaction.
  • Knowledge of product development process.
  • Proven creative skills.
  • Experience with government regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting, financial analysis skills.
  • Expert in new process technology disseminating it throughout ConAgra.
  • Lead the effort in acquiring new technology through relationships with universities and vendors.

    Position Qualifications:
     
  • Education: 4-year college degree (Food Engineering or other engineering field) with advanced degree preferred..
  • Experience: 5+ years minimum experience with proven creative leadership in potato or vegetable process technology or related areas of work.
