www.mcdean.com. System Engineers in M.C. Dean, Inc.’s Applied Technologies
Group are experienced and motivated professionals who provide complete
lifecycle engineering support for Federal Government design/build projects in
the field of electronic security systems (e.g., IDS, ACS, CCTV, DVR, LAN,
CBRNE, etc.). Projects are critical to the protection of important Government
assets and homeland security.
Requirements
The following is a list of specific duties performed by the Systems Engineer.
Meet with customers to evaluate and analyze customer needs, objectives,
and requirements.
Define and develop system architecture, system concept of operations (CONOPS),
interface/integration requirements, training plans & manuals, and
verification/validation test procedures, .
Coordinate with integrated, multidisciplinary product teams to develop
functional requirements, system designs, and other project submittals.
Define, analyze, and apply system requirements from concept definition
through verification/validation testing.
Develop alternative system design concepts, feasibility and trade-off
studies, and value-added engineering.
Maintain knowledge of current industry product offerings and research new
emerging technologies.
Perform technical, schedule, and interface change impact assessment for
cost, schedule, performance, operational concept and procedural update.
Assist in problem resolution and technical troubleshooting when field
support is needed.
Perform Technical presentations on proposed solutions and concepts.
Required Experience The Systems Engineer must be a detail-oriented
professional with the following skill sets:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer
Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a related technical field, and a
minimum of 5 years of system engineering experience in the CBRNE industry.
Strong general engineering acumen (security, electronics, communications,
electrical, mechanical, IT networking, CBR protection).
Strong chemical and radiation material knowledge (Chemical Warfare Agents,
Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Radiation Material)
Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks independently, on
schedule.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
Ability to work in a high-velocity environment managing multiple tasks
while maintaining attention to detail and workmanship quality.
Strong computer skills and a proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
Suite, IT networking, must be able to learn new applications quickly.
Knowledge of engineering drawing and design standards and practices.
Strong desire for continuous learning and professional education.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security screening and
must pass to access classified information.
Working knowledge and/or experience with CBR Sensor manufacturers such as
Smith’s Detection, Canberra, Thermo Fisher is a plus.
Working knowledge of protecting facilities with chemical sensors,
radiation sensors, sensor management systems, and related building HVAC
control systems. Knowledge of ENSCO SMS system is a plus.
Current Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification from the
American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) is a plus.
MSCE and/or MCSD certification is a plus.
