    We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Hardware Engineer in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

    Hardware Engineer applies standard or modified techniques to problems for which precedents or probable solutions are known. Receives general supervision as to objectives and results expected. Selects standard approaches or modification independently. Receives supervision or assistance on complex problems.

    Plans and conducts assignments, generally involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project. Reviews progress and evaluates results. May lead or direct projects. Assists with the review and evaluation of personnel performance.
    May act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions and organizations. Evaluates progress and results and recommends major changes in procedures. Operates with considerable latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
    1. Design and develop cost effective electrical boards for new products in bar code printer to support marketing specifications and regulatory requirements.
    2. Investigate and select electrical components and assemblies.
    3. Construct and test feasibility models, proto-types, and pre-production units.
    4. Investigate, design or specify the electrical architecture of circuits and systems. Make design, performance and tolerance analyses. Document and specify components and assemblies as to tolerances, inspection techniques and sourcing.
    5. Create designs, documents and drawings of sufficient accuracy that they do not require checking by a Project Leader.
    6. Investigate problems, develop solutions, and initiate Engineering Change Orders.
    7. Accurately estimate time to complete tasks. Upon accepting the estimates of others, complete the task to schedule in a timely manner.
    8. Prepare system specifications and/or sub-specification or evaluate such specifications.
    9. Prepare written documentation, reports, memoranda, or other data relative to assignments of a quality suitable for dissemination.
    10. Monitor and supervise electrical hardware development, firmware functionality, DVT, ESD, Environmental tests and release of new barcode printers.
    11. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    - BSEE

  • 5 - 8 years professional experience in high volume production environment
