The individual in this position will fulfill the following responsibilities:
Board-, FPGA-, and system-level design of next-generation voice enhancement
systems for the telecommunications marketplace
Work with vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure cost and
manufacturability issues are resolved early in the design cycle
Collaborate with software, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure
smooth product transition and release
Top-tier escalation support of sustaining engineering issues
Interface with testing labs and regulatory agencies to prevent and resolve
compliance test issues
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
BSEE + 5 or more years' experience with board-level digital design
Solid understanding of signal integrity, EMC, and high-speed design issues
FPGA design experience
Ability and willingness to work in a tightly-knit team to meet aggressive goals
Creativity balanced by mature engineering judgment
A flexible, hands-on approach
Demonstrated ability to take hardware designs from concept through design,
development, verification, and production release
Excellent verbal and written communication skills An orientation towards quality
Preferred:
System-level design expertise with telecom or datacom systems (i.e. Digital
Cross Connects, Switches, Media Gateway)
Experience with SONET and T- carrier systems
Ethernet and/or ATM experience
Experience with one or more of the following tools and languages: Concept-HDL,
Allegro, VHDL, PERL, Agile, HyperLynx, Spice.
Knowledge of appropriate North American EMC, compatibility, telecommunications,
and safety standards: i.e. NEBS, Telcordia, UL, and FCC
