We have a fantastic client who is beginning to develop location based systems with higher accuracy for next generation wireless technologies such as WiMAX and Wideband CDMA. They need two mid-level (5+ years experience) systems engineers with experience in these technologies to help define and model the performance and behavior of the next generation LMU (location measurement unit).

Skills
Must have skills in modeling and simulating wireless system protocols and behaviors
Must have skills in modeling and simulating the RF physical layer
Must understand call flows and call processing between the base station and the subscriber device
Strongly desire knowledge of vendor-specific implementations of WiMAX and/or W-CDMA standards

Process
This engineer will seek to understand and model the air interface between the base station and the subscriber device at the RF physical layer as well as the call processing protocol and behavior level. He will then seek to model and simulate this air interface in order to simulate what the LMU receives from the subscriber device under various conditions. He will then perform feasibility studies, sensitivity, and trade off analysis and ultimately investigate and recommend specific algorithms.

Environment
Must understand air interfaces and modulation schemes for WiMAX and/or W-CDMA HSPDA/HSPUA (60% of focus)
Must understand call processing as it relates to these air interfaces (40% of focus)
Must have experience using MATLAB or similar tool

Domain
Must have systems engineering experience with (in order of preference) a wireless infrastructure RAN (Radio Access Network) equipment supplier, a wireless subscriber device supplier, or a wireless service provider
