Job Responsibilities:
Field Application Engineer - Crane & Hoist
The Field Application Engineer performs a wide variety of technical assessments
of OEM's requirements in support of sales and business development activities,
reviews designs, performance of overall system requirements, and functional data
with the OEM applications center. The position is a National Position covering
primarily the Crane & Hoist OEM marketplace.
Must be capable for providing complete, developed solutions for the customer.
Responsible for conceptual solution development, cost modeling, and writing
detailed technical specifications for all types of automation and control
equipment projects. Involvement with key members of engineering management for
conceptual development in projects where technical complexity is large.
This position reports to the Manager of the OEM Application Center and
interfaces with other departments including, OEM sales, Strategic Account sales,
End User Competency Center, and Industry Segment Marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists other technical staff in design and development of products, systems,
processes, and equipment by analyzing technical problems and working closely to
customer specifications. May involve third party vendors and suppliers in the
design, specification and quoting process.
Travel to customer's site as required to assist in discussions for project and
product development, working with engineering design specifications, objectives
and standards. Provide technical presentations to customer personnel as
required. Assembles and collects all necessary technical information and
customer specifications from engineering, sales and marketing in order to
prepare detailed development specifications and costs. Cross-functional
capability to assist in special projects and product development in support of
sales and marketing efforts across all industry segments. Adequately defines the
scope of work in specifications to allow the project manager and project team to
present to customer.
Experience
Education requirements preferred to include, but not limited to an AAS in
Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or
Mechanical Engineering with a minimum three years of electro-mechanical systems
design and application engineering. Working knowledge in OEM applications and
solutions, primarily in the Crane & Hoisting industry. Experience with Codesys
software, Modicon PLC's , Telemecanique HMI control, and Variable Speed Drives a
plus.
