Job Description:
The Specialist Software Engineer is responsible for the support of quality
services based on core supported technologies and the deployment of new quality
services based on customer needs. This person takes direction on and is
responsible for testing, piloting, integrating, monitoring, problem
determination and resolution for new, or changes to services. Abides by
supported standards when operationally designing and implementing new services
into production. Engages with other technical experts to update and implement
new services. With minimal direction, implements upgrades to core software
technologies and the implementation of new core software technologies. Is
actively involved in 24x7 on call Level 3 (L3) incident management and has
direct responsibility for ensuring resolution to complex problems for supported
core software technologies.
Responsibilities Responsible for upgrading of procedures, and hardware
and software for technology area to maintain currency with technological
progress, economic change, and business needs (with minimal to no direction).
Responsible for testing, piloting, documentation, monitoring and implementation
planning for new services and environments that fall within their supported
technologies. Maintain currency in the chosen technical field and maintain
awareness of the firm's architecture and strategy. Follow Information Technology
Infrastructure Library (ITIL) defined processes that have been established
within the organization. Resolves L3 incidents and participates in the trending
of those incidents to identify problems. Responsible for problem control and
error control activities for prompt resolution to problems. Supervises, directs,
instructs, and checks the work of less experienced staff. Provide performance
feedback as appropriate. Involved in the hiring process by conducting technical
interviews to ensure adequate experience of candidates. Provide for joint review
with other support staff; analysis of incidents, trends and system health
efficiencies.

Qualifications: To qualify, candidates must have:
- a bachelor's degree in a related discipline; or equivalent work
experience; an advanced degree in Computer Science preferred
- approximately 4-5 years of experience in technology support
- project and coordination skills
- strong analytical ability in supported core technologies for large user
bases
- sound judgment and tact
- excellent communication (oral, listening and writing), interpersonal,
organizational, and project management skills
- excellent teaming, organization and time management skills
- ability to work effectively on multiple projects, simultaneously, in a
fast-paced and highly challenging environment
- ability to work effectively with all levels of clients
