The World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) is seeking a WEB ACCESSIBILITY ENGINEER to develop guidelines for accessibility of the Web. Assist in developing guidelines, techniques, and test suites for Web content, and/or authoring tools, browsers and media players. Provide staff support to W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) (http://www.w3.org/WAI/) working groups, and assist groups in following W3C process. Edit working group documents; manage issues lists for comments received on working group documents; maintain working group resource pages; and assist in reviewing W3C technologies while under development to ensure their support for accessibility. Give presentations on W3C/WAI technical work; provide technical assistance on implementation of WAI Guidelines; liaise with organizations pursuing related work.

Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of W3C technologies and WAI Guidelines, including WCAG, ATAG, UAAG. Familiarity with Web industry, accessibility support in mainstream Web technologies and Web applications, assistive technology, disability communities, and accessibility research community. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer science or related degree. Minimum two years experience working in team settings. Availability to travel. Preferred: Knowledge of project management, W3C Process, knowledge of XAG, EARL.
