One of the fastest growning Design Engineering firms in the Central
U.S. is pursuing prospective candidates who have at least 5 years of recent
experience in Instrumentation & Controls. A prospective candidate should have
a BSEE and industrial or process experience, refinery preferred.
Work experience should demonstrate a prospective candidate's ability to
perform all of the following activities (projects) in various stages of
completion occurring concurrently.
The ideal candidate is able to lead a project team in all phases of electrical
engineering including:
- conceptual design
- estimating
- equipment specification
- detailed design
- equipment inspection
- field installation
- start-ups
- Experience in quality control by checking project documents in accordance
with corporate, national and client standards. Thorough understanding and
application of NFPA 70 and 70E a must.
- Monitor project activities and coordinate manpower and resource
assignments to meet project budget and schedule commitments.
- Lead a team of electrical engineers and designers in completing electrical
activities to ensure a successful project in terms of individual quality,
budget and schedule as well as overall project quality, budget and schedule.
By directing the activities of the electrical project team in the planning,
scheduling, engineering and design execution of multiple discipline projects
from start to finish. By coordinating electrical activities with other
disciplines, vendors and client demands.
- Participate in the mentoring of engineering and design personnel.
- Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings and construction packages
for major and complex structures, systems, equipment, and processes.
- Determine the Hazardous Area Classification of an installation area.
- Perform short-circuit, arcflash, load flow, powerfactor, motor starting,
relay coordination, capacity analysis and ampacity calculations. Knowledge of
ETAP or SKM PowerTools a plus.
- Design 3 phase power systems for industrial plants, including larger power
transformers, medium voltage switchgear, medium voltage motor control centers
and motors, low voltage substations, low voltage motor control centers and
motors, facility power distribution, component selection, equipment layout,
circuiting and wiring, installation details and advanced automated controls.
- Design low resistance and high resistance grounding system for industrial
plants, including component selection, layout, wiring and installation
details.
- Design equipment grounding system for industrial plants, including
component selection, layout, wiring and installation details.
- Design lightning protection system for industrial plants, including
component selection, layout, wiring and installation details.
- Design lighting system for industrial plants, including foot-candle
calculations, fixture selection, layout, circuiting and wiring, installation
details and advanced automated controls.
- Design heat trace system for process temperature maintenance, including
heat loss calculations, component selection, layout, circuiting and wiring,
installation details and advanced automated controls.
- Design of conduit/duct bank/cable tray systems, including sizing
calculations, layout and installation details.
- Knowledge of 3-D design of conduit/duct bank/cable tray systems, including
sizing calculations, layout and installation details a plus.
- Design control wiring systems, including DCS/PLC cabinet layout and
wiring, termination panel layout and wiring, motor control wiring, instrument
wiring, alarm panel layout and wiring.
- Generate equipment layouts, including medium voltage gear, transformers,
low voltage gear, control equipment, instruments, electrical/instrument
cabinets and electrical/instrument panels.
- Knowledge of 3-D equipment layouts, including medium voltage gear,
transformers, low voltage gear, control equipment, instruments,
electrical/instrument cabinets and electrical/instrument panels a plus.
- PE registration preferred.
