Plan design engineer document and provide technical support of client’s optical LH network.

Responsibilities:

•Understand existing LH infrastructure and be able to provide intelligent suggestions regarding upgrades and re-designs
•Support design, engineering and implementation Long Haul networks
•Design Circuit Layout Records for new capacity added to the network
•Provide detailed network diagrams for DWDM networks
•Collaborate with internal departments/external vendors to support product delivery
•Work closely with outside contractors to implement changes additions and upgrades to network
•Assemble Customer Acceptance Package upon the completion of the circuit installation
•Update databases with customer/order info for tracking and support functionality
•Create installation design documents for specific network additions or reconfigurations
•Work with Finance department regarding any Purchase Orders or Invoices pertaining to the LH Optical Network
•Provide 3rd Level Support to the NOC on in the event network troubleshooting is required;
•Use knowledge of optical networks and vendor information in activation or troubleshooting issues involved with the design and operation of optical networks
•Utilize Subject Matter Experts within vendor organizations to obtain answers to complex problems in a timely fashion
•The individual must comply with departmental and corporate internal controls and all internal controls processes
•The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity

 

Requirements
A Bachelors degree in technology engineering or computer science or equivalent experience
•3 to 5 years experience in optical transmission systems
•In-depth technical understanding of the components in optical telecommunications networks and a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate technical data methods and procedures
•Working knowledge of DWDM or CWDM gear. Experience with Nortel Cisco Ciena and ADVA a plus
•Understanding of SONET
•Must communicate effectively
•Possess strong organizing planning and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a diverse group performing multiple assignments in a rapidly changing technological environment
•Knowledge of use of optical test equipment
