One of New York City's fastest growing agencies, the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) is a nationally recognized provider of customer serviced based IT solutions and services. DoITT provides an array of services to other City agencies as well as directly to the citizens of New York through the 3-1-1 Citizen Services Center, NYC TV, NYC.gov, and its GIS, Data Center and Telecom Divisions.


DoITT oversees the City's existing and emerging technologies and its delivery of services to the public, sharpens the alignment of IT resources and investments with business strategies and objectives, and leverages the purchasing power of the City to reduce costs. DoITT utilizes technology to advance accessibility, accountability and transparency of City government to its citizens, businesses and visitors.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
? Review and evaluate current and future network design issues as required to maintain network integrity, efficient data flow, scalability, and cost-efficiency, and client needs; attend network planning meetings and provide technical input to designs;
? Interface with numerous City agencies who are looking to DoITT to assist with their network engineering; i
? Interface with other DoITT groups to ensure that network changes (including client-generated and agency-mandated requests) flow smoothly;
? Design and code router/switch configurations as required;
? Implement new processes/functions on routers and switches as required, including but not limited to QoS, multicasting, NTP, VLAN configurations, TACACS, ISDN, HSRP, Content Networking, and advanced network routing;
? Provide advanced-level technical support for network problems as reported to the DoITT/Citynet Help Desk. Document steps taken to resolve problems, in problem tickets;
? Participate in problem review meetings at the discretion of the Network Support manager;
? Provide advanced network support in new project development. Provide technical assistance on the feasibility of new projects;
? Participate in developing implementation plans;
? Install and configure Cisco Unified Call Manager (CCM) 4.x for a distributed cluster IP telephony deployment;
? Install voice modules and configure Cisco IOS MGCP and H323 gateways w/ analog FXS, FXO or digital T1 interface to PSTN;
? Configure Cisco IOS gatekeeper;
? Install and configure Cisco Unified Unity messaging with mixed mode licensing for large-scale deployment;
? Integration of Cisco Unified Unity servers with Active Directory and Exchange for unified messaging;
? SRST implementation on various platforms.
*Due to the necessary technical support duties of this position, candidates may be required to work alternate shifts and/or weekends


PREFERRED SKILLS:
? A minimum of 5 years experience with IP Switched/router/based networks;
? Excellent oral and written communication skills;
? Ability to take the lead of projects assigned;
? Advanced knowledge of IP addressing and subnetting, routing protocols, including EIGRP, RIP, RIP2, and OSPF;
? Implementation of BGP (internal and external);
? Advanced installation/troubleshooting experience of Cisco hardware/OS software, including 75xx, 72xx, 36xx, and 26xx series routers, 65xx, 35xx layer2/3 switches, CSS (content switches);
? IP network security utilizing Cisco PIX and/or Checkpoint platforms;
? RPR implementation and troubleshooting;
? Solid working knowledge of SONET and optical networking;
? WDM (CWDM, DWDM) implementation and troubleshooting; CIP, OSA, IP mainframe connectivity (IBM);
? Advanced switching technologies including MPLS. Advanced Cisco certification is highly desired;
? Should possess 3 years experience utilizing Unified CCM, Cisco Unified Unity, IPCC Enterprise;
? configure - including scripts - IP Contact Center (IPCC) server;
? Cisco Unified Video Conferencing


CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Professional/vendor certification(s) in wide area network administration that is required for the position to be filled.

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Routing & Switching

Requirements
In addition, all candidates must have the following:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory, full-time (not classroom based) experience in wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory, full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in “1” above; or
3. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in “1” above.
NOTE: In addition to meeting the minimum qualification requirements, incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environment(s) in which they may be assigned to work as determined by the employing agency.
