This role is to work in the Equities Data Program group managing the full
project life cycle of projects that provide historical market data capture, data
storage, and data access infrastructure for new and existing clients in all
locations (global)This role will involve day-to-day project management of a team
of IT staff and working closely with business users, and business application
developers as well as with internal teams in coordinating delivery of project
implementations.Hands-on experience with vendor data processing, storage, and
delivering access to applications is vital. The candidate will have knowledge
and expertise in processing of data feeds from vendor such as Reuters or
Bloomberg as well as have experience in how historical and/or real-time data is
used in sales, trading, settlement and research/quantitative applications.The
Candidate:
Will have a proven track record of leading a team from an idea/conception to
implementation. The candidate will not only manage but will be hands-on in all
aspects of the project including architecture design, technical and functional
design, process and workflow definition, testing and implementation, support
model definition, as well as project planning and delivery.
Will be expected to liaise with various IT and business groups to provide
ongoing product consulting to facilitate usage of the products/system. The
candidate will be responsible for identifying new business and technical
requirements for projects, building business cases, implementation plans and
obtaining budget approval.
Will be required to communicate change implementation plans, report progress
against plan including deviations and their reasons, identify and manage
risks/issues, and track cost/benefit against per project business case. Good
presentation skills are a plus.People management responsibilities will include
directly responsibility for a team of up to 5 developers across different global
locations. In addition the candidate will be required to direct the work and
deliverables of other EDP staff such as analysts, architects, level 2 support
who are not under direct reporting responsibility. Experience with managing
outsourced/offshore resources/projects a plus. Requirements
- Four Year bachelors degree or international equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Computer Science or equivalent desirable
- Some short-term travel
- Minimum 5 years experience in reference data or trading systems
development
- Investment banking, Equities trading domain experience desirable but not
essential
- Database experience with Relational databases required including
programming with stored procedures, SQL and representation/manipulation of XML
- Experience of programming languages e.g. c/c++; Java, server side
programming under UNIX/Linux; middleware technologies i.e. J2EE, CORBA and/or
messaging technologies as well as scripting/processing with shell/Perl
- Experience with bulk and real-time data services and products provided by
vendors such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and FTI highly desirable.
- Knowledge of technical/financial standards and protocols a plus
- Understanding of Project Management and implementation
- Knowledge of sales, trading, order management and settlement systems a
must
- 7Knowledge of key processes around managing market data
- Knowledge of market data (instrument, counter party, calendars etc) in
financial institutions is required
- Experience with formal development methodologies (UML) desirable
