Position Title: Engineering Technician
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Design Engineering Team Leader
Job Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electronic circuits, equipment, and systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist Design Engineers in development of new circuits by performing electrical circuit prototyping, breadboard construction, and troubleshooting
• Work with various computer systems and programs to enter schematics, design circuit boards, enter bills of materials, and perform cost analysis of the products
• Discuss layout, assembly procedures and problems with Mechanical Engineers. Draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units
• Recommend changes in circuitry or assembly methods to simplify assembly and maintenance
• Set up standard test apparatus or devise test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests in order to evaluate performance and reliability of designs
• Analyze and interpret test data
• Test operating unit to identify defects, measure performance, determine need for adjustment, verify specified operation and compliance to applicable regulations and Quality Assurance (QA) guidelines
• Adjust, calibrate, align, modify circuitry and components and record effects on unit performance
• Write technical reports, develop charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate a system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations
• Check functionality of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions
• Maintain project files and notebooks in an organized manner
• Maintain lab equipment and supplies needed for product development

Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology from a technical/vocational institution or a four year college or university, or above/equivalent education or experience
• Excellent Academics( cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
