DuPont is seeking a Construction Engineer at theDelisle, MS site. The
Senior Construction Engineer is responsible for day-to-day construction
operations for capital projects and contracted site/maintenance infrastructure
support at the plant site. As an owner representative, the Senior Construction
Engineer is responsible and accountable for leading safety, productivity, cost
control, quality, and schedule on multiple construction projects for assigned
areas of responsibility. Projects can focus on building new facilities or
improving existing ones and range in size from small (0 to $5 million) to
large (> $5 million). The Senior Construction Engineer is responsible for
communicating and verifying the expectations for the contractors working in
assigned areas (these expectations will be aligned with the site and Business
objectives). The engineer is expected to be technically competent and will
receive minimal direct supervision. This position requires networking and
interacting with team members in many organizations including design, site
operations, maintenance, construction crafts, craft specialists, business
services, finance, engineering consultants, mobile equipment operations,
safety consultants, security, sourcing, and contractor supervision. The Senior
Construction Engineer is required to seek and develop an understanding of
business expectations, apply appropriate functional resources, and coordinate
project related tasks. The Senior Construction Engineer receives functional
guidance from an Engineering Manager and/or a Site Engineering Manager,
project guidance from Project Team Leaders — (Business or Engineering roll),
and support guidance from site leadership (Business roll). Additional
construction engineering responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
following tasks: Develop construction scopes of work, estimates, and staffing
plans. Participate in Front-end-loading/project planning and provide
construction analysis Lead development of integrated project and construction
schedules. Lead development of effective contracting strategies to meet
project needs. Lead constructability analysis and reviews Facilitate an
effective interface with engineering and construction contractors. Work with
site engineering, operations, maintenance and construction personnel to
achieve business and project objectives. Evaluate completeness and accuracy of
contract bid documents and proposals consistent with project needs.
Requirements
- BS — Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture.
- Five to ten years of field construction project experience in the
industrial arena.
- Proficient computer skills with MS Office.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Geographically flexible and willing to relocate throughout career.
- Able to build and maintain effective relationships and relate
effectively with diverse individuals.
- Willing to travel (10-20%).
- Personal flexibility in order to meet schedule demands in a cost driven
work process.
- Determine safety and quality requirements for construction and site
support work.
- Planning and organizational skills to establish goals, budget time, set
priorities for self and others.
- Experience working on plant shutdowns and turnovers.
- Determine contracting strategies to fit specific project needs and
define contract packages.
- Review contract packages for completeness, bidability and
constructability.
- Work effectively with site engineering, operations, maintenance, and
construction personnel.
- Manage scope or contractual change in a field construction environment.
- Management of site construction contractors Cost control planning and
oversight.
Additional information: Future assignments can be located at plant sites
in various geographic regions.
